WOW Philippines E-Newsletter - November 2007
The November 2007 issue of your WOW Philippines E-Newsletter is solely dedicated to the World Travel Market (WTM), which takes place in London on 12-15 November 2007.
Attended by 47,000 travel professionals from 202 countries and regions, WTM is one of the world?s biggest and most important business events, providing travel-related companies the opportunity to meet, network, negotiate, conduct business and stay abreast with the latest developments in this global trillion-dollar industry.
The Philippines has been a WTM participant for decades. This year, 16 Philippine travel companies specializing in the European market will be participating under the banner of the Department of Tourism. A listing of these companies may be found below for your reference.
The program of activities for the Philippine participation at the WTM will start on 12 November with the delegation?s departure from Kensington aboard the classic London double-decker bus. This will be the major highlight in the morning to make an impact for the opening of the WTM. For the first time to be done, the well-known double-decker bus will serve as a promotional vehicle advertising WOW PHILIPPINES on its side panels as it goes around the streets of the City of London enroute to ExCel.
At the well-appointed and ingeniously designed Philippine pavilion, there will be a Philippine reception on 12 November from 5:00 to 7:30 pm, with ?BURI HAT KARAOKE NIGHT? as the theme. PDOT will also be showcasing the best in Philippine music by inviting tour operators and travel agents to relax and unwind while feasting on Filipino cocktails featuring the international medal-winning Tanduay Rhum from the Philippines.
DOT London is also launching a WTM raffle competition where qualified UK and Irish travel trade clients can have the chance to win one of three WOWPhilippines "Magic Sing" karaoke microphones. By meeting with one or several Philippine delegates at the stand, visitors can drop their validated business cards in a tombola by the reception desk. The winners will be drawn on the last day of the show, at 12:00 noon.
Expected to draw crowds again will be the 116-sq.m Philippine stand, which will have a simple but elegant structure topped by a beach hut, with colorful and festive kiping rice wafers hanging all over the space, while large-format bright posters surround the main structure, showing irresistible adventure destinations, biodiversity treasures, and world heritage sites in the Philippines.
