PATA is recognized globally as being "The Voice of Pacific Asia Tourism" . Founded in Hawaii in 1951, the Pacific Asia Travel Association, better known as PATA, is a non-for-profit travel industry association which promotes the Pacific Asia areas travel and tourism destinations, products, services and interests of it s members trough: Networking Marketing, Promotion and Sales Destination Promotion Travel Marts/Trade Shows/Sales Missions PATA also serves as a central resource for information and research, travel industry education and training and quality product development with sensitivity for culture, heritage and environment.
PATA membership is comprised of over 2,100 worldwide travel industry organizations, including 101 government, state and city tourism bodies, 76 airlines and cruise lines and approximately 2,060 industry members serving the Pacific Asia region.
In addition, more than 17,000 individual travel industry representatives are members of PATA´s 78 Chapters worldwide. PATA Chapter Membership provides its members with a wide range of services and opportunities in order to assist them to accomplish their business objectives, including: Keeping members informed of industry information and trends. Helping to conserve the Pacific-Asia Regions heritage, culture and environment. Contributing to the sustainable development of tourist attractions and facilities. Improving travel trade and destination marketing skills trough education programs. Addressing major industry issues on behalf of its diverse membership. And many other activities.
PATA also serves as a central resource for information and research, travel industry education and training and quality product development with sensitivity for culture, heritage and environment International travel to Pacific Asia has increased three-fold in the last decade alone - from 25 million visitors a year to over 90 million. PATA's Mission is to enhance growth, value and quality of Pacific Asia travel and tourism for the benefit of its membership.
